Tank bag recommendations

4224 29
Hello All,

I'm preparing for my first long solo and I'd like to add a tank bag that has been a proven performer on other ST2's. I'm looking for something with a clear top so that I can view my handheld GPS unit and the bluetooth GPS receiver.

I travel light so other than chargers or maybe some small personal items, I don't need a tremendous amount of storage.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

+1 on the Marsee. I have a teardrop one I bought for my Monster and it works great on the ST.

Tank Bag

Fetter, I have been using an RKA tank bag for a long time & I really like them. I bought the first one for my 916 back in '95 (3-point mounting) & it's still good. I bought another one a couple years ago for My ST ( magnetic). The 16 litre SS in the closed position is only about 3 inches high & it's expandable if you need some more space. Made in USA. Map Bag

I have found I really do not like a full tank bag. I have plenty of storage in my hard cases. If I am going on an extended trip and need some sort of gear or jacket, when I get there, I just send it UPS.

But for trips I found this magnetic tank bag which works great for a map and small Items. I keep it in the hard bag and when I am on toll roads I slap it on the tank and have my map, toll pass, sun glass & garage door opener in it. I tend to travel light.

I have the bagster bag and tank cover. I like laying all over my gas tank without worry about scratching it up.

I opted for the full "bondage gear" (as my dealer so affectionately calls it) from DP. Cost is about $325.00, it has the usual map pocket on top, two smaller side pockets, nice secure carrying handle and removable shoulder strap, it's expandable (as shown in the pic) but not too big when collapsed down to regular size. No cross winds are gonna shake this baby loose! Maybe a bit extreme but very functional.

I guess if I had a "blue Duc" I'd cover it up too ! :D
