I found 2 containers (5l) of ELF racing syntetic racing oil, I put in a box during a move and forgot. It's from 2007. I was going to change the oil on my Multi for an upcoming trackday.
Can it still be used?
Does syntetic oil loses any viscosity etc. with time?

Mobil recommends a maximum shelf life of five years — 13 years is stretching it considerably.

Why is this in the Hall of Wisdom?
My understanding is that this is for known solutions or information, rather than questions.
Also I thought posts were moderated before being included.
Maybe the new site no longer has those conditions.
Something like this should be in the Tech Forum.

Man, if I'd have done that there'd be fifteen moderators and a squadron of people with dirty diapers yelling at me about it.

(heheh). ;)

Dude, relax. I meant this for "oil and lubrication" but I was distracted and posted here. It's a forum, not a university lectures site.
Mod. Please delete, before anyone else get their "mutande" in a bunch...

As far as the oil goes, I’d pour it into another container and see if additives settled out.
Thats what happens in old Dino oil. Even if they did, I‘ve shaken it up and used it other vehicles with no problems.
