I recently found analuminum swingarm from a 900SS. I know that these have been prone to cracking. Is there some indication as to which ones are most likely to suffer this? Any identifying marks etc. I should look for on the swingarm?

the ones build up to 1993, easily identified by the smaller upper bracket,
are the ones that are likely to crack.
that changed with the bigger upper bracket of the 1994 modell if i remember
correctly.

cheers.

Fish mouthed swingarm pivot bolt pockets = early more prone to crack
Boxed in swingarm pivot bolt pockets = late less prone to crack.
both shock mount ears = both can crack if flexed too much.
