ECS is not bad.
Pricey, sure, but they were nice to me when I stopped by.
Most people like them a lot, you may have run by one or two bad reviews. That is NOT their reputation.

I recommend these guys as well. My buddies bike reworked is another level compared to my bike of the same model without their work. Plus Pete is a great guy and tech, doesn't beat around the bush and does great work.
