I know I could go through speedymoto, but they are out of stock.

Does anyone know the bearing part number? (for lack of the correct term, sorry)

NOT the ducati part number, but rather the bearing numbers...

apparently the supersports are the only duc that comes with a tapered bearing (according to Christian Hansen at SpeedyMoto).

Would the regular bearing and the tapered bearing be the same bearing number just with the tapered bearing being specified at some point in the part number?

We have a Purvis Bearing store around the corner and I'm pretty sure I could walk out with the two bearings, while I'd probably have to wait 3 weeks if I were to order them from the dealership, not to mention the probable price difference.

If I need to clarify anything, just say so. I'd appreciate any info anyone could provide!

Geez, I just had mine in my hand yesterday here at work. [I was cleaning them...the gear shop next door has an ultrasonic parts washer] Now they are sitting home on my bench, waiting for me to re-grease them.

I'll have to look at one for the bearing number tonight, if you can wait that long. all I can remember right now, is they are SKF. Let me know.

The tapered roller bearing #'s will not be anything like a std. roller bearing #, it falls into a completely different catagory.

If your bearings are indeed shot, I would look closely at the races.

If you buy them from ducati, I believe you have to buy the set [bearing and race]
if it's not the bearing/race then I've got some serious issues somewhere else in the neck...lol

while in arkansas for 2200 miles, the head bolt came loose. I had just installed the cycle cat triple tree and apparently didn't ride it enough after that and before the trip to let it set...I rode it and tightened it after a while, but it came loose again. So, for 2200 miles, every time I would stop or shift my weight I was tweaking those bearings. That and the previous owner didn't keep the bike in a garage...I've been noticing some problems, but nothing that I couldn't write off to just myself being over sensitive.

Now, after the long hard rain I rode home from work in the other day, I'm noticing some real issues. Grinding feel and sound after the bike has sat overnight or all day in the parking lot when I first get on it. Occasionally, I'll hit a snag, but nothing that serious....kind like hitting a small rock in the road, I have to use a little more force to turn.

I will want to go ahead and replace the races while I'm in there, no point to getting it all torn apart and not doing that.

how much should this part cost from a dealership?

thanks for the info about the part #s being different, wasn't sure on that one.

ordered them from the dealer yesterday actually...

only thing that concerns me is that they didn't show any races...just washers and the bearing. I'm wondering if the 'washers' are the races....or if they are something seperate.

OR, more probable, the bearings and races are the same part #, come as a package deal...

hope so

:)
