Does anyone have the stealth tail tidy? If so do the cops give you a hard time due to its not so visible location? Not sure if it would cause a storm over in the uk as the cops here are a pin in the ass, answer have I have the number plates illuminated.

I've got the Competition Werks Stealth Tail Tidy. It has an illumination light. I've had a dozen police look at mine. For the first 4-5, I just came right out and asked them if it was okay, they all said yes. I'm in California. Here a plate is suposed to be readable from 50 feet. Even reading legally displayed plates at 50' can be tough. So the main thing, one officer told me, is for it to be clearly visible. So he said mine is fine.

It seems like it is all still subjective for the officer, so I told myself I would let myself get two tickets before I switched it back. No tickets yet, lol.

Of course I have no idea about the UK.
I have it and have gone through a couple roadblocks and nobody has cared.

My theory is that if you aren't being stopped for riding the way we all wish we could legally then I think you are good.
what is that stealth tail tidy?

edit: googled it... you mean something like that? http://www.ebay.com/itm/DUCATI-STRE...OCATER-TAIL-TIDY-/160751399122#ht_3407wt_1163

Yes thats it. Competition Werkes up in Oregon has two models and they actually call the one that sits farther back in under the tail the STEALTH model. LED turn signals go into the seat vents.

Nothing you need to worry about you guys can't have these in Europe cause the plates are the size of sails!!!!
That's a great looking plate holder but it would never fly in my neighborhood.
I have the Comp Werk LTD minus the light they include because it was ugly. I installed a LED plate frame instead to stay somewhat legal. I have been pulled over once already but it was for no plates. We will see when I get my Purple Heart plates how many times I get pulled over. The officer that pulled me over said that he could not see my plates so when I get them make sure my plates were visible. It's all up to the cops where your at. I have been pulled over plenty of times in my Monster and my plates are on my swingarm mounted vertically, no Cops ever said anything about it either. I thinks it's just a gamble for me. If I start getting fixup tickets than the Comp Werks will go.

I wonder if there are any comp werkes stealth tides over here in the uk?
The standard plate is shit,so most people do downsize a little bit, take a couple of inches off the width and height of the plate.
I used a smaller plate on my last two bikes, the buell and the streetfighter and to date never been pulled but every time I look at the comp werkes version I cant help but think,as we say here in england,it's asking the piss, the police will not love the comp werkes!! Definate £30 fine.
You could get the regular Competition Werkes tail tidy, cut the plate down, but trim it in your bikes colors or italian colors. And then put the blinkers in the vents. Would look good...
I'm running the RnG tail tidy which is fine but the comp werkes stealth is demo the way forward,if you can get awy with it :)

are there any pictures of how the LED turn signals look in the rear vents?
I have it. I didn't like the look of the turn signals in the vent, so I kept the stock turn signals. The led blinkers that come in the kit look a little cheesy also.
i dont use a license plate, if a cop wants me hes gonna have to chase me.

Well, you Don't see them. They are behind the black mesh covering the vent, but show through when the light is blinking.
what the hell is going on right here?

And can someone post up a video or a pic to show just how visible the turn signals are thru those vents?

Im a little skeptical on how well a car can see the lights thu the vents. I'm sure it works well, but I wasn't comfortable with it. Its pricey too, if it turns out you wind up using it for just a license plate holder...

That is the plate that covers where the OEM rear fender connects to the tail. Why Comp Werkes didn't make it a nice black piece, I don't know...

I am thinking about spray painting mine to make it stand out less...

Wouldn't be a good idea mounting the integrated signals into the tail light so you don't have to mess with the vents?
I've had them in the vents and now that they came out with integrated I switched and very happy with that, the vent light were OK but the one unit to me is way better.
Just a thought! :)
