Since I have to sneak into my neighborhood in the wee hours, I was considering Stains for my ST4s. I like the removable choke, and the high quality. My only issue is the highlly polished stainless may be to much bling for a stealth matte ti bike. Has anyone seen this combo or have pix?

I'll admit that I had similar aesthetic concerns, but now that they are on the bike, they look fine. There is so much reflection going on that what your eye actually sees on the pipes are refections of the road, your bike, etc. (not really too bling) I'd be fine with matte, too, but the polished Staintunes blend in quite nicely for my taste.

I had the same concerns when I put the polished Remus pipes on my ST but other than having to keep them polished they look fine and not too shiny. If you want to dress them down you could polish them rough with some high grit sand paper (1000/1500) or some high grit compounds.

I have a set on my RT and the fit and finish is excellent. They are definitly on the quieter side too. They were a bit pricy, but good stuff always is.

I had a pair of Staintunes on my ST4s Senna. The pipes are well made and sound real nice. But I sold them, I really didn't like the shiny chrome with the color scheme of my bike. I replaced them with a carbon fiber pair. Much better now.

If you like the concept of the removable silencer on the Staintunes, you can also consider Sils for your bike. The Sils that are shipped from Carpimoto (www.carpimoto.com) come with a "db killer" removable silencer. It is essentially the same thing as the Staintune removable silencer.

Sils are available in aluminum, carbon fiber, or titanium.

I run my titanium sils with the db killer installed almost all of the time - the pipes are slightly louder than stock but the overall sound is very much improved from stock. Without the db killers installed, the exhaust is pretty loud (maybe too loud) - but really sweet sounding!

Peter

P.S. - the "db killers" are available separately for those of you that may want to retrofit them to your pipes (that is basically what I did).

I have the cans Peter mentions and I LOVE them. A nice Ti can with stainless pipes matches the overall
Senna scheme perfectly. I was lookng around long and hard b4 I bought these from Carpi. In my opinion, the Staintunes were nice, but I could not see the polished SS on my bike. Personal tastes, that's all.
The Sils are top quality, light and sound better than most I have heard. I think the oval can hold more volume, thus the sound quality which is low and deep, yet not obnoxious.

Thanks everybody for the help. The Sils are pretty much what I'm looking for, but when I tried to order them from Carpe, they don't take AMEX or mastercard, only visa. I don't want to open another cc acount for 1 purchase.

Is there a US distributor? Or, can I borrow your visa card? I promise we won't end up on Judge Mathis.

Thanks again.

My question about the Sils is: Does the Ti come with a strap bracket while the bracket is attached to the Al an CF cans? That strap looks like a P.I.T.A. when swapping mounting positions.

Did you need a new ECU? ...or just factory tuning is fine? :)

I have since sold this exhaust, but miss it terribly.
No there we no straps holding it on. Mounts just like stock.

The only reason I sold it was because of the shape. I went from oval Ti Sils to round C-F DP units. The sils matched my color scheme better and they also sounded better than the DP cans. I only wish they came in a round version. If they did I'd be back on them in a flash. Me no likey oval cans on the ST. Look good on a Monster though.

"Do these cans make my ass look fat?" "Uh...NO! The look good on YOU..."

Oh and no, i did not a new ECU either. When took it in for the 6K service, I had them tweak it. Smooth as silk. 50MPG on an ST4s. Not bad. And I COULD feel difference in throttle response and overall power.
