I'm not sure if that is what the OP was looking for. They need to be more specific.

If they want to mod the side fairings to be quickly removable without pulling the upper fairing, the two hidden tabs need to be trimmed off. The ones with vertical fasteners going through them. With those gone, I honestly don't mind the wellnuts.

Have a good one.

Not sure if you're joking but how does your description differ from Rushjob's doc in the link? Although it also does the dzus conversion that's optional. The doc has good pictures and step by step instruction for trimming the fairing to allow for side removal without removing the top fairing.

Mainly the Dzus parts, that they cut off way more than is needed, and that you didn't characterize it that way in your post. I do like quarter turns, but with the easy mod, they come off and on in no time.

In the end, it is all good.

Tonered, could you show me a picture of the section you cut off? I'm assuming you're talking about this part. And with that gone you can shift the fairing about to have it clear the coolant expansion tank?

Yes. That tab and another one for a vertical fastener further back. With those gone on each side, you can flex the fairings out and back in.

This mod makes dealing with the fairings and anything under them a joy, esp compared to dealing with the dash and upper fairing removal.

Have a good one.

Hello
So no cuts needed on the headlight fairing?
Can this be done on angle grinder which is what I have? Do you guys have photo of final results so I could do the same?

Cheers, TommyK

No changes to the upper fairing.

You can do it with any cutting tool, but be careful. And angle grinder will chew a lot of plastic very easily.

Sorry. I don't have any pics. It is pretty obvious if you take a looks at the side fairing in your hand.

I took a photo of my fairings, this is before operation, could you draw the after :)

basically its the horizontal tabs you see at the top of those pieces, the right fairing appears to already have the front tab missing. See the pdf in the link I provided earlier in the thread for pictures. The pdf also trims the nose of the fairing which is not necessary but makes it a lot easier to remove and re-install the side panel while the nose fairing is in place.

No problem!

Here you go. Just trim off the red scribbles. :D

You're welcome.

It is a treat to slap the fairings on and off when you do this.
