If the starter spins when it's powered directly, that suggests that there is no switching power from the right switch to the relay, so I would start by checking the connectors at the starter relay.
Then I would suggest you check the connections within the right bar switch for continuity/corrosion. After 6 years the switch blocks may have rusted internally. They are open to atmosphere and even in a garage they get damp inside.
That's the simple stuff. If the switches are OK, then check the check list above or beg/borrow an ECU.

Q; for folks that know what they are talking about - is there another ECU that could be swapped in to get it started and if that fixes it, that could be flashed later to match the bike?
