My 99 ST2 fairings are your standard painted plastic both inside and out. I have been offered a replacement center panel for a 98 model(?) but it seems to have another layer added to the inside of the fairing, perhaps for sound deadening or... It is definitely a factory added bit. It covers most of the inside and is trimmed so as to fit around all screw holes, etc. Was this for 98 only or is this a later year fairing? Any problems fitting this to my 98 model? Thanks for the help.

This is just foam supposedly for sound deadening. It also does a great job of soaking up water and making the fairing heavier. I recently scraped it all off:

The fairings should fit your ST regardless.
