The rear brake on my new-to-me SS/FE makes a dull noise when the brake is lightly applied, such as when moving slowly coming to a stop. There is no noise when the brake is firmly applied. The noise sounds like wood rubbing on metal, not metal-on-metal. I have tried de-glazing the pucks with no improvement. They are ferodo pucks (stock?) and have lots of material on them (the bike only has 6,500 miles on it). If they are stock, then they are 14 years old.

I'm planning on replacing the pucks with EBC units unless someone tells me that this sounds like a problem with the rotor.....???
