Followed a suggestion regarding stock plugs - opened them up to .035 (from stock gap). No more power, but my 800SS runs alot better. Idle, throttle response, overall tractability. Anyone have a similar experience?
I went to .035 on my 1994 900SP when I changed to Dyna Coils and NGK DSPR8EIX Iridium Plugs. Runs like a top! I did a lot of research on here about the Dyna Coils and a lot of guys had good luck opening up the gap.
Increasing the gap will increase the resistance across it, thus generating a higher voltage across the gap before a discharge occurs. The spark would be longer as well, igniting more fuel at the same time.
