Spark plug wires on center of head plugs difficult to remove

2208 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Ricko
Does anybody have a trick for removing the center of the head spark plug wires without using a vice grip and pry bar? They stretched about 2 inches before they came loose. I ruined mine taking them off and getting ready to install new wires and don't want to repeat this process. This is on a 2015 DVT with 2 plugs per cylinder.

The trick is to treat them with silicone grease before you put them in the hole and twist them while prying them out. Try to get them moving in any direction and break them loose before tugging hard.

Thank you! Will give that a try. I was wondering about using a dialectic grease before putting the new wires on.
That's what I use on my electrical boots and caps. Remember to keep it off the metal parts or the spark plug and cap; I've seen YouTube vids of guys covering the plugs with dielectric grease.

My trick to remove them, I use 2 tie-wraps, see drawing (don't laugh)

Red tie-wraps, blue is your plug cap. Give leverage to pull them.
