Hi Guys.
I just bought my 2013 Pikes Peak MTS 2013 mod.
The first minutes first problem. It is very difficult to gear shifting. When I want to down shift from 3 to 2 or even 1, impossible to do it unless I open the throttle a little. Is that normal.
It looks to me not normall.I ve been owned and riden at least 5 BMW gs and many other bikes but never had a kind of problem.MTS is 22 K and looks quiete well maintained.what is your suggestion.
Thanks.:frown2:

any thread here about how to bled it??
No different than your brakes really. Put a hose on the bleed nipple. Open your clutch reservoir and ensure it is topped off. Pump the clutch lever a few times and hold it tight against the bar. Keeping pressure on the clutch lever, open the bleed nipple and the clutch lever will bottom out. Leave it compressed and close the bleed nipple.

Repeat process until you get nice clear clean fluid coming out the other end. Make sure to keep topping off the reservoir so you don't get air in the line. Usually easiest to do with 2 people.

Take the slave off and see if it has been leaking on the pushrod side. Probably about time to replace. They all leak eventually and Oberon will give you a better clutch and shift from my experience-3 Ducatis/3 new slaves! Dark or black fluid means that it hasn't been bleed in a while.

Hi sergeantnic,

Yes I did what you said. But dont work.It is still the same.I asked the mechanick and he told me that, ıt should be opened clutch cover and take out all friction plates and make them all with sand paper.Because MTS was lying in the garage almost a year.So plates were in the oil so long and oil breaks them. After cleaning like that, problem will end.
I m not sure if it works but do not want to pay so much for this.I m thinbking if I can open it myself and do.
thx alot

Did you bleed the top? (bleeder on the master cylinder)

What happens engine off? Do the gears change ok? (rocking the bike a bit back and forth between gear changes).

When engine off, little easier to shift but again is not smooth at all.
Weekend l ll ride around 300 km.than l ll see how it will change..

No.it is the same during all riding.shifting gears up or down is quiet difficult.unless l open throttle a little, not possible to shift.

Not sure I would trust this mechanic, first time I heard of a bike with a wet clutch needing this kind of process.

If your clutch is dragging a lot, it will make loud clunks when you shift into first. Also you can check with the rear wheel up (center stand or rear stand), start the bike, shift in first holding the clutch, the wheel moving a little is normal but if it's catching speed, your clutch is dragging)

if you say it's quite difficult to shift with engine off, and you don't have clutch drag, then I would suspect the alignment of the shift mechanism.

I do not have neither center stand nor rear stand. But, if I keep the bike upright and engine off, pushing and shifting, difficult to find first gear from neutral.
