So I went to go jump on my bike (2010 Hyper 796) this morning and got the dreaded click and die when I hit the ignition. As I ride my bike at least weekly and have it on a maintenance charger any time its sitting in my garage, I was baffled. I recently installed a Rapid Bike Evo system and had it dyno tuned so I feared the worst.

I pulled the seat and "voila", the battery terminal cover had come off both terminals on the battery were broken off. Needless to say I was pissed. Guess it's my fault for not replacing the Chinese POS that was in it when I bought it. The repeated dyno runs while tuning probably didnt help the cause. I guess they spelled "extreme" wrong on the lable for a reason haha. The battery was purchased from a Batteries Plus by the guy I bought the bike from 6 months ago. He had the receipt for the battery and it was purchased the day before I bought it (OF COURSE).

Since no where around me was open on a Sunday except for Cycle Gear, and they didnt have anything except more Chinese junk, I jumped online a decided to go with a Antigravity YT12BS 12 cell lithium batter with 360 cranking amps. Antigravity YT12BS 12-Cell 360CA Lithium Ion Battery - RevZilla

I would be interested in any opinions, especially from those who have used Antigravity batteries. I have heard many horror stories from those who have used lithium batteries. This is my first time using a lithium battery, so I am a little hesitant.

Also, my hyper has an immobilizer light that blinks when the bike is turned off. Should I be worried this will drain the lithium battery and should I use a maintenance charger, such as a battery tender especially made for lithium batteries?

I appreciate any advice/opinions.

I have an antigravity in my everyday bike, it is a lot smaller than the OEM and only just turns the bike over but it works.

You will need to get a different charger to maintain it but you can have a lot more starting power for the size and weight of the OEM one.

As far as drain goes on the immobiliser light, the drain is negligible.

There are also WPS Featherweight batteries that work great too. Fitment is better with these. No problems so far after 2 years with either batteries!

Thanks for the response. I got the Antigravity 12 cell of the same OEM size that has 360 Cranking Amps, so hopefully it's more then adequate to turn over the 800. I went ahead and purchased the battery tender made for lithium batteries with 5 step charging cycle, just in case it does sit for a while.

Glad to hear you have had no issues with your Antigravity battery. Since my post I have spoken with a few others who also vouch for the Antigravity brand's quality, so I guess I will just have to wait and see. It should be delivered today....

Antigravity battery came in and first impressions are great. Terminal posts appear solid and well made with a clever design. It almost feels like an empty battery casing.

Since it came almost fully charged, I immediately installed, thumbed the starter, and the bike sprang to life quicker then ever before. Haven't got a chance to ride it yet but I am already happy.

Fingers crossed it lasts....

I have been using the same battery you bought in my 1100s for 2 years now
with zero problems. I ride 9 months out of the year and have never put it on
a battery tender for the 3 months its sits it has always been just fine.

Ran home at lunch and grabbed the bike. She starts so easily now. I hit a few backroads on my way back and I must say side to side transitions feel substantially quicker. The battery sits really high and far back in the subframe, so I am not surprised by the difference. SO STOKED!
