I have a Multistrada 1200s Touring, 2011
I have been given a Garmin Zumo 550 sat nav unit, I was wondering if anybody has wired one into the standard plug where the standard Ducati GPS unit goes? at the moment i have it direct wired into the battery
hopeing someone can explain the best way to wire it into the wiring harness

YES we have wired it into the proper plug..
do a search...hit the Search between the Newposts and Quick Links...
