salvaged superbikes?
where is a good place to look for some salvaged 748/916/996/998 or 749/999 super bikes? im trying to build a track bike and id like to rip apart a bike that is already destroyed as opposed to a mint example. any help would be awesome guys.

I'd be nervous buying it without an inspection.. Parts for these bikes are pricey!
i have a huge question! Aren't only dealers allowed to purchase this? I think we can't just bid for it right?
General public can bid on Copart and I think on CrashedToys.com, also.
Read into Copart's policy. They have hidden fees and even if you win an auction and the price doesn't meet their minimum they don't have t sell you the bike. I've only tried to work with them with cars, perhaps bikes are different.

i bought my 1100evo from copart with the intention of rebuilding it back to street worthiness. Then later doing something a little custom with it. As was mentioned before there are tons of fees. And didnt listings have different requires; i.e. pure sale, minimum bid, or on approval.
My company buys alot of bikes from copart and other auctions. You do have to be a dealer with licenses. We have to have several and state issued bid cards. There are fees that go along with winning a bid. I personally have purchased 3 bikes and a cobra from there and have had no superises. I got what I expected a salvage title bike or car. You also have to be a dealer or know a dealer to get the title rebuilt. There are forms you need to send into your state to get it inspected and once it is passed you get a sellable title. My race bike an 04 gsxr 600 was bought for less than 1k and needed only a windshield. So you can get great bikes for cheap. You just can't do it without licenses. In California at least, you do not need to be a dealer or have any license to re-title a salvaged bike. You do have to pass inspections and DMV checks the engine and frame numbers to make sure nothing is stolen, but that's about it. You will never get a clean title on the bike, though. It will always say "salvage" on it. I'm still getting ready for the inspections on my 996 before getting a new title.
I am interested in certain bikes located in VA under crashedtoys's inventory. Unfortunately, their FAQ states that I am unable to bid due to restrictions imposed by the state. I am unable to find a broker who is willing to act as proxy too.Simple - you DO NOT have to be a dealer to bid.
