.. or does anyone else think that thing looks odd sitting in there? It's kinda tacked on and doesn't visually integrate well with the engine. I reckon if I get an S2R I'd rip it off. Or relocate it. Might be able to hide it underneath somewhere and still get plenty of air flow. And could probably do replacing it with the s4r's more compact unit.

Anyone thought of doing something like this?

my only thought would be to get a bigger unit that would hold more oil...something that I could get more cooler oil to the motor in the summer...but maybe that is me?...if you want an idea of how a Monster looks without a cooler...look at a 99 Monster 600 on bikepics.com for reference maybe...but I would never ditch the cooler...relocate...maybe?...but there aren't too many ways or places to do so...but if you find an effective and elegant way to do so...please post pics and whatnot as well as some data to back up the effectiveness of said relocation!

why would you ditch an oil cooler that came on the bike for a reason?

I guess I'm confused as to why you would even consider something like that when the bike was designed like that for a reason.

Not to mention, it's not JUST the S2R that has an oil cooler, every air cooled has one

Really? Where is it on the 620? Maybe I can relocate it to the same place.
early 620's don't have them....and all the M600's didn't come with one...but there is an accessory add-on one in the Ducati Performance catalogs for one for those bikes....but I think all of the 620's from 03 and up have em....well..maybe not the Dark's...but otherwise...they have em!
