If someone were to give you $65,000, with the requirement that you spend all of the money on motorcycles/gear/accessories, would you buy an RR, or some combination of other motorcycles (don't have to be Ducatis)? If you were to go with the combo, what would you get?

I'd go with a combination (all Ducatis, of course):

1) Find an '02 998R (about $30,000) -- to look cooler than anybody on the road or track, and go pretty fast

2) '05 Black MultiS (about $15,000) -- for touring

3) '06 Silver/Black Monster S2 1000 (about $10,000) -- for "running errands"

$10,000 for gear and accessories

Well, since $65,000 might cover MSRP but not taxes, tags, insurance, or track time, I'd spend my 65-large this way:

1) 999R Xerox for the street...about, say $35K out the door
2) A nice pre-'98 900SS...say like $4000
3) A whole lot of upgrades to the SS, including:
----> All the engine work described here: CA Cycleworks 100HP Due
----> BST Rims
----> Race plastic
----> Ohlins forks and Ohlins or Penske shock
----> Exhaust, probably the super-secret one mentioned here: Cycleworks/MBP Exhaust under "Thursday, March 30th, 2006"
----> Rearsets, clip ons, miscellaneous other prep work
===> Figure about $18K total
4) The remaining $8K on race gear, an AFM novice license, races, tires, etc.

Given all that, I'd probably sell the 748 and give the money to my wife, just to appease her.

I'd dump the $65,000 into the following:

Ducati 851-888 (that's my next bike anyway)
MV Agusta F41000 (Senna version probably)
2005 Aprilia RSV 1000 (What can I say I liked the "big" lion graphics)

Is that $65,000 yet....if not I'd use whatever is leftover to build a sweet garage to keep them in. And some trick custom leathers. And some personal professional riding instruction from Rossi.

I'ld buy a 749R, an Aprilia RS 250 and the Aprilia '550 Tard, a nice Dodge Transporter van to carry them around, some new leathers and spend the rest on trackdays, schools, and a trip to Europe to watch a MotoGP race (or three)....

I would probably purchase an MV Brutale to add to my 749R, maybe another few thousand on gear and track days.... and then use the rest for more important things in life than motorcycles! Maybe travel, do some house improvement, or some other thing.
