slider

I crash twice with my Hyper, on both sides.
I dont know exactely what these slider would protect.
It seem to me that both time I have drop the bike, that it's allways the same parts that get broken.
1- the mirror and hand guard
2-the break or shifter pedal.
3- the fairing

You're right they are very expensive add on to the bike.
However I have a lot of Rizoma on my bike and it does add a personal touch.

The only concern I have about this type of design is the stress it'll further put on the frame in the event of a fall. It's too bad the contact points along the frame tubing don't have more contact area and maybe some form of elastomer spacer for shock dispersal in the event of a crash.

And for the record here's a marginally less expensive variation of the same general idea:

Um, I do agree with Hyper01 though that I don't even think they'd touch before your fairing and handlebars do, so i guess the point is moot...

Although they're designed to protect the frame, I have to wonder how much I'll care about the frame when I have already done $2000+ damage on the right side and $4500+ on the exhaust side.

Though they would make a great gift for the enthusiast who has everything!
