run it hard..
with Ferraris, driving it regularly increases costs because of more frequent maintenance intervals (major services with age or mileage), but lack of driving it makes the service costs higher. so when you drive it (hopefully often), drive the hell out of it and get your money's worth. there's no point in babying it. actually, this worked for me since i drove the Ferrari for fun.. never really enjoyed taking it to get groceries or to the mall.
the purpose of my Ducati, is also for pure fun (although i commute with it).. so i ride it as much as i can without worrying about babying it or not.
and i agree with daniel.. if i had a collector bike, i'd probably have a more regular bike to beat on.. and save the collector bike for the sunny weekends. if my only bike was a collector bike, i'd ride the hell out of it anyway.
