I got this email from Ducati this morning. Anyone have more detail on this or can we associate this with any problems we know of?

Replacement of Multistrada 1200 S rear accelerometer

Dear xxx,

Please be informed that an update is available for your Ducati Multistrada 1200 S (VIN n° ZDM...).

Continuous quality control of the product has led us to observe that the rear accelerometer cable of your motorcycle's DSS (Ducati Skyhook Suspension) suspension system may malfunction. In the event that this occurs, the suspension system will continue to operate. However, the suspension will function in a "Fail Safe" mode, where it will perform in such a way that maintains performance and safety. In "Fail Safe" mode the semi-active control is deactivated, and the suspension operates utilizing a standardized compression and rebound setting set by the manufacturer.

Your Dealer has been provided with the resources necessary to replace the part with a redesigned component. This update is free of charge, and takes approximately 45 minutes. Please contact your Dealer to book an appointment.

Please be reminded that Ducati Customer Service is available should you require assistance. You can reach a representative by dialing 408-253-0499 opt. 1, or by using the contact form on-line.

We would like to take this opportunity to send you our very best wishes.

Does anybody have an idea what range of VIN number or what production dates were effected here?
I have a trip planned over Xmas and the Ducati dealer in South Australia will likely be "unaware of any issue" so I would like to get this sorted so I don't have a failure on my trip

Since this is the first updated gyro part, I would assume all 2013's and some early 2014s will need the new part.

Given the other thread mentioning some if the latest deliveries (2014) being affected, I'm pretty sure all 2013 bikes need it done and likely 100% of those bought before September.

Sounds like the problem where the sensor wire is too short, so they lengthened the cable?
I called my dealer today for my 2013 GT because I also received the email yesterday. First, I found out my dealer closed its doors a week ago. So I am left with 1 dealer within 150 or do miles. Second, I found out you are correct. The Shop Manager at the new dealer told me that Ducati simply lengthened the wire about 4 inches. Hope this also deals with the kinks others have talked about.

Received the notice on Friday Called my dealer who fit me in early Saturday. They just swapped out the cable with one just a little longer. He looked at the original one and said that it was fine and dint see where the issue was but the new one has a slightly different fountain procedure. He even bough me breakfast while the bike was in the shop. There are good dealers and then here are great ones. I also had an excuse to take an absolutely reflect morning 2 hour ride to him. Easy peasy choice

I called my local dealer yesterday, asking if they could get me in first thing next Saturday morning. To my surprise they had a slot available, and not only that, the part is in stock! :D

I got the email Saturday morning, went for a ride Saturday afternoon, and had a DSS fault. What a coincidence!

I believe there is only one Ducati dealer in Adelaide as of last month, the other has dropped Ducati in favour of KTM, do you work at the only Ducati dealer Jimmy?

Called my dealer friday and he said Ducati had sent him only 6 of the new cables but would put my name on it to come in after Thanksgiving. Since it is 225 miles from me and was just there for my first service 2 weeks ago, I think the timing sucks.
But if you can't get in quick you better call in and reserve one for yourself.
