Radiator / Oil Cooler Guards

Hey guys, I've done some searching on the forums and online, is the only real option for radiator / oil cooler guards EvoTech? I do like the EvoTech 3 peiece set, but was wonder if there are any other options? What are you guys using? Feel free to post some pics.

Appreciate any info anyone has!

I would be interested in this too. Although how many folks have really had issues with debris causing damage to the oil coolers. Do the guards cost more than the oil cooler itself?

All the other bikes I've ever owned were all sport bikes with full fairings. Seeing everything exposed including my oil filter has me paranoid :laugh:

One thing that's often overlooked on Ducati superbikes is that both oil and coolant radiator fin damage occurs from road debris. Without protection, the fins get bent over, air flow through the radiator is reduced, so coolant and oil temperatures rise over time.

After carefully straightening the bent fins, place aluminum window screening over the radiators to prevent future damage. Leave extra material to form tabs that can be bent around the radiator to keep it in place. The airflow at speed keeps the screen from moving around.

Products having screen material with larger openings won't stop small pebbles. Don't worry, the inexpensive window screen material won't significantly reduce airflow and easily conforms to the shape of the radiator.

Do it on a new bike before damage occurs. It'll keep the bugs out too.

That's a really good idea, I've never thought of that!

Are you willing to take that chance on probability?

Do the guards cost more than the oil cooler itself?
The cost comparison is completely irrelevant. No matter which one costs more to replace, you're not getting home if the cooler gets a hole knocked in it when you're 200 miles from anywhere.

Are you willing to take that chance on probability?

The cost comparison is completely irrelevant. No matter which one costs more to replace, you're not getting home if the cooler gets a hole knocked in it when you're 200 miles from anywhere.

Probably no more prone to cooler damage than the tens of bazillions of Japanese water cooled sport bikes.

Consider the guard as cheap insurance. All it takes is one stone ... one screw ... one nail ... while riding at 75mph to park you on the side of the road.

Good point! I decided on the EvoTech since I like their 3 piece set for the HM.

Evotech really cleans up the front & protects the head & coil too if you get the 3 piece kit. It’s amazing how much the front tire kicks up...I even get pebbles thru the vents in the front fender. Great fit & easy to install if you have a medium length T handle 5mm as the engine & oil cooler guard fit together & mount with 2 5 mm bolts from the bottom oil cooler mounting point.

The EvoTech kit is solid and looks good. I don't think there is any reason to look for another.
Except I got a radiator guard on ebay for about $25.00 that fits and seems to protect the radiator LOL. I'd check there and ali express and save some do re mi.
