I was thinking the same thing Vito!....call it a race bike if it truly is....not just a half assed prep job....it is nice for the racers to buy a street bike and get the comp money back in contingency as well as the money they get from selling off the street stuff to offset the cost of real race gear...like race fairings with bellypans....when I read the RoadRacing article before I logged into here and read that....I was like WTF...you can buy a leftover 05 for almost the same price as what they are offering this bike for....vduc said:I just read it on http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=24946 Wow, Ducati might be showing signs of life. One disappointment I see is the use of stock bodywork with all the holes...come on put some race bodywork on it.
Air cooled twins are eligable for more race classes than water cooled.OldBaldy said:Agree with the comments above, that it should at least come with race plastics, but I was thinking it's a good price/deal compared to the new std 1000SS, for anyone who's gonna track it....(not sure WHY someone would track a brand new 1000SS vs a used SBK, though - unless there're specific racing classes for the config...
30 bikes at $7,999 apiece is nearly a quarter of a million dollars... You want that in cash or in inventory gathering dust?apagios said:At least they tried to be clever in moving the left over '05 models out, let me guess, they had about 30 left over they need to sell?![]()
...Voila!!MikeM said:and a higher price tag.![]()
At this point, Ducati only sells 1,000 SuperSports per year, so it's not going to take a whole lot of guys to say "I'll take a Classic instead" before the impact is felt.DucMike said:I can't see the Sport Classics cutting into SS sales that much.
