This happened to me about a month ago, the quat-d bracket, which holds the rear lighting unit, snapped at the point where it bends, and when this happened, the whole unit hit my rear wheel and snapped back and hit me in the back.

Two things I had going for me - low speed (10mph) and a backpack.

Had this happened on the freeway or at higher speeds, I wonder just how serious it might have been, because it hit me hard. At first, I thought someone had thrown something at me, it wasn't until I looked around for the perp (smile) that I encountered the broken pieces of my tail unit.

I post this as a caution to Q-D owners, you might want to check the bracket at the bend for any signs of stress, hell, you might even want to spot weld that section for more security.

I am still trying to locate the replacement bracket.

Good luck.

Glad you are okay. Have you contacted them to figure out some kind of solution to this?
