I am planning a trip to travel across the country within a week on a full fairing bike. What are a couple way to protect the bodywork, windscreen, and paint?

I have a few of my own ideas:
Of course, don't take the trip
Apply painters masking tape where most debris will hit (behind front wheel)?

I don't think it's possible to protect your paint on a long ride. And my philosophy is along the lines of "it's a motorcycle...ride it" anyway. Having ridden Supersports cross country several times and having just done a 1,000 mi. day yesterday I have some experience with the subject FWIW.

My first (smart-a$$) thought was "the fairing protects the rider not the other way round".

I've had several bikes with factory and after market fairings, some very effective some less so. If one got tagged with a stone or bird or whatever, I did my best to repair it to my satisfaction. Bottom line is: Bruce19 is right - just ride it.

What Bruce and Neil said. Of course stay off rock roads when possible but you would be amazed at how not tailgating cars and trucks helps.
