Hi, I'm a Scot in the UK, & I'd like to convert my '05 SS seat to a 'mono'.

My bike's getting the fairing repainted soon, & if I got a new seat rear-end that would get painted too.

I really like the underseat storage, & I'd be loathe to lose it by fitting a pillion seat cover like a Ricambi-weiss type does. Apart from that, I'd like the 'bum-stop' position slightly further forward than the standard seat gives at present.

A type that some of the older SS's have where there's a storage area behind the bum-stop, rather than underneath, would probably be ok.

I've been looking on forums for images, but not finding much that I can identify.
I like this.. http://www.ducati.ms/forums/attachme...9&d=1184029139
but don't know who makes it, & the member seems to be long gone.

I don't have a pot of money to spend on it either, but something sourced from the U.S. very soon wouldn't be a problem.
One other thing;- I've got a spare standard seat, so butchering one wouldn't be a problem;- I would probably do this rather than buying a Sargent/Corbin.

Any suggestions?

Other than the DP mono tail cover, i only know of a few options from Ducati Kaemna...

Their Emozione mono tail (fiberglass):

Their DSM mono tail (fiberglass):

Or their slip-on passenger seat cover for the factory seat that is similar to a Monster's passenger cover (flexible plastic):

I've purchased the unpainted slip-on cover for my '01 900SSie from DK, and had it painted to match my gloss black paint job. It fits great, looks awesome, still allows full access to the underseat storage, and retains the rear grab handle (which i use frequently to move the bike in and out of the garage and to put the bike up on a rear stand). I'll take and post some pics of it if you'd like (i haven't gotten around to taking pics of it yet).

Thanks for the reply. Don't bother with pics of the seat cover,- I'm familiar with it. I wasn't going to consider it because it relies on the standard seat shape, & am hoping to at least alter it. I've had a good report on the Evoluzione seat unit by Englishman "twpd".
However,- I hadn't thought about losing the grab rail when putting the bike on a stand....Hmm:(
I'll be working on the bike tomorrow....I'll check that out.
Thanks.

Photos please please.

St2lemanns and Chuck
Please post your photos of the 998 solo seat on the 1000ss and the DK cover on the Sensationally painted black beauty. Did you get the same painter to do the cover Chuck? By the way does the DK cover feel like it would crack, break with a bit of weight on it (no pillions of course) or is it quite strong and or flexible?
Thanks St and Chuck.

Same painter. The seat cover is made of flexible black plastic, so it probably won't crack or break too easy. Here's the pics...

Any pics of the fitment process?? pics from behind?

This is actually very interesting to me.

Can you access the area under the seat at all?

Somewhere, I'll try and find them. Otherwise I'll try to remeber to take a picture later today.

Bascially, I had to make a front subframe and a rear bracket. The Seat uses a normal front hunge and two bolts at the back, so it takes about 10 seconds to lift the seat. I kept the tray, so there is a lot of under-seat storage.
