Do you guys think polished aluminum bits (anything from swingarms to levers) look aircraft-like or tacky?

I don't think polished aluminum looks tacky at all. I am not too fond of chrome, but polished aluminum is nice. I polished a few parts on my F4i, bar ends, outside of the wheels (left the centers black). It looked pretty good and I got a few compliments on it.

Go to OCC choppers and get it chromed!

Kidding ;) I think small parts look pretty good in alu (rizoma clutch/brake reservoirs for example look nice imo)

Matte objects absorb and radiate heat very well, while shiny things do not. Something like the heat shield above the right foot peg or the exhaust pipes would perform better in a polished state, but things like cylinder heads and radiators should be dull. Control levers feel better to me when they are smooth and slippery.
What I'm saying, is that, let function rule with choices like surface finish and you will never worry about being tacky.
