Hi, I removed the under tank pannell's to replace them with carbon ones, & under the right hand side cover I found a 2 pin socket
I was wandering if it was for a trickle charger?

It's not the trickel charger unless somebody installed one for you while you were at work, they don't come on the bikes.

My dealer puts em in automatically... I was surprised to see it myself, very handy since now I won't have to take out the battery!

So are you saying it is for a charger ?

If the connector looks like this:

Then it is most likely a hookup for a trickle charger/electric vest/etc.

Sorry UK, I failed to read properly where you located it... mine is in the tail bit under the passenger seat/cowling. I imagine it might be used for electric grips or something but really no idea. I am looking forward to seeing a schematic of one of these some day.

Yes it is for a battery charger. I highly recommend the "Battery Tender" brand. You can leave it on all the time. Conditions the battery as well as charges it. A lot of dealers put them on when they set the bike up.
