Other fuel makes my bike feel a little different. Not as bad as "not quite up to it" but sort of less smooth. No I don't mean diesel fuel 
but if I fill the tank with 98 instead of 95 it runs a bit worse. Sometimes I like to fill it up once and a while with Shell V-Power or some other so called "really-good-for-your-engine-sir" petrol.
Also, I have the feeling it runs better when it colder outside, don't know, like the engine breaths better.
No idea if it all makes sense. But after 22k+ you get to know your bike a little, and notice every little difference.
