Last night a Ducati rider named Mick Cleary was killed 30 miles east of Bend, Oregon and the state police are looking to locate his family. We only met him a couple of times when he came in our shop (Bend Euro Moto) on his black Multi 1100S. The police found one of our business cards in his wallet and called the shop because evidently they are having difficulty finding his family. I told them what I knew about him, which was very little, but that he said he had Salt Lake Motorsports build his motor. Maybe someone there would know his story.
If anyone knows this guy, Oregon State Police is taking information at 503-375-3555. The address he gave us was in Elko, NV. He was not like most people we meet traveling through on Ducatis, a very odd guy. Talked about having the fastest Multi out there, wanted to "race for pinks" with David, very unforgettable character.
Totally spooky. Didn't even know him but hopefully someone out there can help the police piece it together...
We lost another rider here in Bend and the State Police are not having any luck finding his family. I'm including the press release in the hope that just maybe one of you might know anything to help.

UPDATE - FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH - HIGHWAY 20 NEAR BEND, OR
Posted: September 25th, 2009 7:35 PM
The Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public for help in locating potential family members or close relatives of a man killed in a motorcycle crash on Highway 20 during the early morning hours of September 25, 2009.
On September 25, 2009 at approximately 12:30AM a 2008 Ducati motorcycle operated by MICHAEL WILLIAM CLEARY, age 61, was driving eastbound on Highway 20 near milepost 28. According to Sergeant Eric Brown of the Bend Area Command, as the motorcycle was eastbound it failed to negotiate a left hand curve and drove off onto the south shoulder of the roadway. The motorcycle struck a fog marker and CLEARY, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the vehicle. He died at the scene of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation, but it appears speed may have been a contributing factor. Troopers have been unable to locate any close family members or relatives of CLEARY. Investigating officers have not been able to locate a permanent address for CLEARY, but believe that he has frequented the areas of Elko and Incline Village, Nevada as well as the Bend and Rome, Oregon areas. OSP is requesting that anyone with information that might assist in locating a relative or family member of CLEARY contact the OSP Northern Command Dispatch Center at (503) 375-3555.
