You do realize that your head is at the farthest end of a fulcrum and you are traveling face forward. Therefore when you hit something the speed of your head will be multiplied by a factor of about 10 and your face will plant into whatever solid thing you hit at many times the speed you are traveling. Your face is the number one most likely part of your anatomy to impact into something during a crash...
IMO an open face helmet is no better than nothing at all.
