I bought a spare engine and it has been stored ever since.
However it came with engine oil in it which has been used.

Would it be advisable to change out the used oil to fresh oil?
Won't it just sit in the carter?
How do I get the new oil to circulate through the engine?
Can I just hook up a battery to the starter motor and have it do some rotations?

From what I understand new oil is best, used has contaminates that can pit things like crank bearings and such if left for a long period of time.

Pulling the plugs and putting something like marvel mystery oil into the cylinder will help prevent the piston rings from corrosion and sticking to the cylinder walls.

While the plugs are out you can also hook up a battery to the starter motor and do some rotations to circulate the new oil though the motor. That is if you have the oil system completely in-tacked, in other words if the oil lines are not connect to an oil cooler you could cause yourself a mess :wink2:

Tape up / seal all openings, intake, exhaust, coolant etc. and shrink wrap the whole thing.
