It's a 2005 S4R with 26,000 miles on it. Sorry for the pictures if they are small, they were sent to me like that...

The biggest problem is they say there is a dent in the frame- here's a picture

Also some oxidation on the headlight

It's going to be at an auction, and I haven't seen it in person, but is the frame thing a real problem?

If those pics don't work, here is the links--

Nope, don't do it.

I've been here at this forum for a long time and have seen a hell of a lot of posts from folks who bought a late model Ducati at auction for a "great deal"...until they find out how much it's gonna cost for things you would take for granted on other bikes...that's why it's at auction. They're looking for a sucker. If it was worth fixing, a dealer would already have bought it and done so for half what you'll spend. Go buy a nice one. Trust me on this!

Personally, I'd have to look at it, first. I've bought two bikes through online auctions, and both of them were in much worse shape than I originally figured. In the case of this bike, I'd figure the worse. I'd assume the frame is unsafe and the bike is only worth the sum of its parts.

Hahha thanks guys...I mean I am a dealer, and this is going to be at a dealer auction (Manhiem), so I was thinking it might go for 2 or 3K....It does look beat up though, hmmmmm.......

It depends on what you want to do with it. I see you said you are a dealer, and if you are looking for a cheap bike to turn over for a profit or get on easily, I would agree to walk away like everyone else said.

However, if you don't mind doing some work and would like to save money, or otherwise couldn't afford an S4R, I would check it out more. The frame tab that is bent if where the exhaust ripped off of the bike, and it looks that the rear section may be tweaked down on the right side a bit. However, if everything from the head tube through the rear motor mount and shock mount is good and you can pick it up for around 2K I might go for it. I would ask about the headstock and the engine mounts, as they often crack on bikes that are lowsided.

It is a gamble and depends on how you want to fix it, whether you just want it to be fine and rideable, or if you want it to be perfect and back to stock. If you can pick it up for 2K or so and it turns out the frame is no good, you can at least part it out for that. You won't make much money off of it, but you won't be out anything either, aside from your time to tear it down and sell the parts off.

Nooo...This is at a dealer auction. Sometimes every now and then though there are cars and motorcycles that come in that have been repo'ed, sold by banks, but this isn't one---(as far as I know haha)
