Has anybody else had a problem with there oil switch on a 2000 748? Mine was leaking, loosened it to remove it and the threads from the cove all came out. The cover is ruined I think(unless someone has better solution). Plan on doing the work myself, if you have any advice please pass it on. Thanks for any help.

If the threads in the cover pulled out, you might be able to helicoil or timesert it but it probably not worth the trouble. Plus, no guarantee it'll stayed fixed. Prob better off just getting another used cover off ebay or somrthing. They are simple enough to change.

Good luck.

Edit: too much torque applied while tightening the sensor last tine it was installed is prob what damaged the threads in the cover. Make sure you dont overdue it when installing again.

Buy a switch from NAPA for a few dollars. Search the forum for the part number. My bet is that you can install it with a quality gasket maker compound or some epoxy and you will be ok.

I would try this before sourcing a cover, removing the clutch, etc.
