As some of you may recall, my 998 had some serious oil pressure issues a few months ago. After nearly 3,000 miles, it seems it has been sorted at least for now.

The PO had jumped the side stand switch with a wire and I've left it as is.

My mechanic neighbor put these two things together and asked an interesting question: does constantly letting the bike warm up on the side stand have an impact on oil pressure? I would imagine that it is possible after 100s of cold starts in this position especially if the oil was low.

Since many of you guys are far more knowledgable than I am, I would really like to know your thoughts. Thanks.

None....imagine life on a 50°+ long left handed sweeper at 130mph...oil pump worx

if it has oil pressure it has oil pressure. i've never seen anything have issues on the stand.

different to cornering when the oil will be responding to the force upon it and moving around in the sump based on that.

Oil is more level in the motor in a turn than on the side stand, hang a string with a weight on the inside of your fairing and it will point down in turns. Balanced turn.

Oil level will be above pick up on stand or bike everywhere would die in startups.
