I went to the Ohlins site and tried to find an accurate owners setup manual for the DU701 (46HRCS) shock the 2002 ST4S comes with:

http://www.ohlins.com/Our-products/Motorcycle/Products/Touring/DU-701/

That webpage directed me to the following owners manual:

http://www.ohlins.com/Products/OwnersManuals/OM_07241-02.pdf

Page 3 of the manual seems to show different spanner fittings than the ST4s has - it doesn't show the spanner fitting apparently blocked (?) by the hose connector. Page 11 showing a different setup than my shock has for adjusting shock length. (I don't have the two adjustment nuts at the bottom of the shock indicated.) The manual also shows a different bottom shock mount than the eyelet my shock has.

I know these manual discrepancies have been addresses on the site before, but has anyone ever found an accurate owners manual for the Ohlins? Maybe I have incorrect information? Any help would be much appreciated.

On the ST4s fitment, preload is adjusted with the hydraulic knob near the right rear footpeg. Not the normal two big ring nuts. Shock length is not adjustable. Ride height on the ST is done using the adjustable link rather than changing shock length. Check your bike's owners manual. I think it is covered in there. Looking at the Ohlins manual you linked, I think that it’s a rather generic one.

Thanks for your input - makes perfect sense. Looks like in the future, when I take the rear wheel off the change the tire & sprocket, I'll be adjusting the ride height a little via the adjustable link, too.
