hi there.
rear shock on my 996 is quite rusty. it has been checked during the last service and i've been told that it is OK,no leaks. but it doesn't look all that great.
anyone had an experience with shock refurbishment services? apparently for £100 they make it look like new? is it worth doing? or better bite the bullet and just buy a decent USED one?

no point buying another used one if yours is perfectly functional. surely a used one would cost more than 100quid? as I see it you have 3 sensible options:

1. leave it as is (since the pro's have pronounced it functional).
2. have a go at rejuvinating it's appearance yourself (can get some tips on the web).
3. let them do it for the 100quid. then it should be good as new. and with new oil and seals to boot.
