Anyone know where i can buy a replacement ducati performance steering damper for a Hypermotard 1100 evo , I brought a Ducabike one but it's the wrong angle and won't fit the Ducati damper only the ohlins one . View attachment 1042756

Had the belts & valves done on my 08 1100 & while it was in added some Rizoma reservoirs, Oberon clutch slave, Corse Dynamics rear ride height adjuster, & a Spark link pipe to eliminate the flapper valve. Man it runs so good now! Openers were out of spec on exhaust side but all others in spec. Best mod so far was raising both the front & rear. Much more clearance & now similar height to my old 939SP only I get more torque & a dry clutch. Only thing I need now is a longer kickstand. View attachment 1042363 View attachment 1042364

That exhaust is beautiful, but it looks like it is really close to the rear brake Reservoir. After a ride, have you ever checked how hot the rear reservoir is?

I brought the Ducabike one & it doesn't work with the DP damper only the Ohlins , anyway looks like blackhyper has me sorted, thanks mate
That has got to be hell on fluid life. If that was how my bike was designed I'd change the fluid every 500 miles especially with aluminum reservoir, that thing would transfer heat alot faster than a plastic one.

Maybe that's why Ducati uses plastic in the first place besides being cheaper than aluminum

Same as stock location just no flapper valve so I assume it runs cooler?
Aluminum transfers heat alot better than plastic & retains it longer

Deja Vu? Say what? Two Hypers! Some of us aren't so lucky. I can now finally say that I've ridden all iterations of the 1st gen Hypermotard!

Member @UndergroundLare brought out his freshly custom-tuned 796 with a newly installed Termi slip-on system and graciously allowed me to ride it. After a lot of devotion with his tuner, he got the fueling nailed. Most of what I have read over the years about the 796 and what UndergroundLare described is that it is a much more tamed down version of the 1100; I can even remember some journalists saying things like "if you haven't ridden the 1100 version, then you haven't ridden the Hypermotard." This gave me a certain perspective however after finally riding one, my expectations were exceeded by a lot! I was surprised at how speedy and quick it is! I was expecting the performance to be comparable to a Japanese 750cc v-twin that has decent mid range punch but is relatively flat everywhere else. Perhaps thanks to a great tune, I found it to have more than adequate power and quite a fun engine. While it is not 1100 torquey, it pulls right up immediately from the bottom end with more gusto than I expected and doesn't have any flat spots. It is quick and fun!

He pointed out some other differences like the levers and handlebar that are not as highly spec as the 1100 which was interesting to compare. The front brakes were stronger than expected too and the bike overall noticeably feels lighter than the 1100. The suspension has more cush to it that you immediately notice as soon as you sit on it unlike the 1100 which is more firm. It is very playful, easy to ride, and does not feel as racy/serious/intimidating as the big 1100 can be at times. I found in particular that the 796 is easier to ride in the way that you don't have to be as careful with the throttle in corners (especially the EVO) and overall doesn't require as much focus as the 1100. In other words, the 796 is more forgiving. I wasn't a fan so much of the wet clutch due to less precision over the dry clutch like UndergroundLare pointed out. The ease of the 796's very light clutch pull compared to the 1100 though is profound! In closing of this impromptu review, I would say that both models have their places respectively, and yes, the 796 is still deserving of the title.

From one Hypermotard enthusiast to another, thank you again, UndergroundLare, for letting me ride your Hyper(s!) and for riding my SP again.

Appreciate the write up on the 796. I’ve never ridden one, but it’s nice to get a fresh perspective. Shows how important it is to have a properly tuned engine. Most people don’t wanna spend the money to get the custom tune, But have no problem spending a lot of money on carbon fiber parts.

I think that's all the mods, and it desperately needs a bath, but that should be a good idea as to where it's at.

I put 10500 on the ad because it's Craigslist, but I haven't been riding lately and it needs to go, make me a reasonable offer.

Does somebody have a photo of a Hypermotard 1100 evo sp (Red Frame) with all carbon fairings? It would be greatly appreciated!
