Good morning gentlemen. I am veryyyyy new to the Ducati Sport Classic game and have a question for you guys. Immediately following the start up of my GT1000 with 1,800 miles and no visible leaks or smoke, the bike makes a sound almost like a cross between the air brake on a tractor trailer and someone stepping on a rubber chicken (not kidding). Bike runs, as far as i can tell, amazing but the noise does happen every time I start the bike (sometimes louder than others).

Was wondering if any of you might have experienced something similar and know what it is?

thank you!

Almost impossible to tell w/o a video but only thing that comes to
mind w/o hearing it would be to check the belts and the belt tension
rollers.

Agree, a video would help! Do these noises go away eventually or get louder as you roll on the throttle?

Sounds like the starter clutch aka sprag clutch to me.
Does it matter that the noise ONLY occurs immediately following start up? after the bike has started, you cannot duplicate the noise (until you shut the bike off and start it again) In other words once the bike is running, throttle or not, you cant make the noise happen again.

Apologies but i am a complete motorcycle noob

That's why it seems it would be the sprag it engages to start the bike then
disengages once the bike starts. If I were you I would repost this in the
Mechanical Tech Discussion > Tech Forum and one of the Ducati Techs
who are members here might weigh in and give an opinion.
