I have an öhlins rear shock on my sport 1000 and it has the right sag when i sit on it but it has no free sag when i lift it.

I figure this is strange and maby the rear spring is too hard.

Any idees?

No, it's not too hard, it's too soft!

If getting the right rider sag means you have to crank in so much preload that you have no free sag left, that's a sure sign that the spring rate is too low.

I had the same issue with my 06 Sport 1000. I weight about 200 in gear. The stock spring rate is 183 lbs / inch. I needed a 225 lbs per inch spring to get things in the ballpark.

Lechef, I hope you understood Yellowduck's point because he's right on the money on this. Try checking out the Sport Rider Magazine site's suspension tuning articles for some nice info on this stuff.
