I pop them up a few hundred rpm because I find they die in the arse really quick when you back off. They will still idle fine on the lighter flywheel.

Agreed, mine has a light flywheel and I recently fitted an aluminium clutch (including a lighter one piece billet hub) which dropped a significant amount of weight and this made it more prone.

Engine pickup is almost instant but has a tendency to stop when revs drop down to idle, particularly after a quick throttle blip when not fully warmed.

I Set idle to around 1300rpm and it's fine.

From memory Paul I just unbolted mine and left the rotor on. Ran fine. Early ones had the rotor run inside the stator and the flywheel could be taken off as a separate piece from the sprag.
