Knowing my fairings are rare, and hard to replace, I decided to make my own.
My last Duc had been backed over in a parking lot, knocked off it's kickstand, tracked, etc...I wanted to make the 1198S Corse my own style.
So first, I bought a spare fairing set off fleaBay, and a spare gas tank.
Let the work begin!

Step one, sanding, priming, and basecoat.

So now the basecoat is ready, I reached out to Michael at All out Graphics.
Talk about awesome, I told him what I wanted, he whipped it out fast and shipped it to me.
Awesome work, TOP notch vinyl, and fabulous cost.
Trust me guys, you need custom vinyl, Michael is the man!

So I did the vinyl work.

As you can see, the vinyl is great.

Now the fun part, the clearcoat.
I wound up doing 10-12 layers of clearcoat.

And now I have a Stoner Moto GP replica!

Oh that God. I was so worried you F’ed that beautiful aluminum tank. :)

Now grab the blue masking tape and come do some track days with us.

Wow! That was a great job with the vinyl. It looks like it came right off the grid. Thanks for the tip, All out Graphics.

So you turned one of the greatest Ducati color schemes into a cigarette commercial... 😶 Each to their own I guess.
Ahem
WinnoW was not Casey Stoner World Championship bike....

The last world championship Ducati was not sponsored by Fisher -Price.

LOL
And I can swap back my original body work anytime I want.
Do you take your woman out in the same dress every time?
The world is all about choices my friend.

And as an excellent painter and mechanic, I pay homage to classic bikes.
Kevin Schwantz? Lucky Strikes.
Eddie Lawson? Marlboro
You see the trend here....

Kinda like Michael Schumacher's Ferrari:

I don't know Rainman so I can only speak for myself. When I see Marlboro I think racing, must just be because I grew up in a certain era and I feel the nostalgia real strong. The bike isn't a cigarette commercial, if anything it's a racing commercial. But in reality it's just what someone wanted to do to their bike.

I guess us old guys are like that.
I think Penske, Ferrari, Yamaha then Ducati, etc...

And when I rode Saturday I got a crapload of thumbs up and waves, one pair of boobs flashed at me, and lots of kudos.
No one said anything about a cigarette ad.
Although after riding it, I thought I needed one because it was like sex!

I still have all the body work to make it look like this.
.
I just like options to ride a bike that looks like whatever I want.

Everyone,

I still have all the factory stuff.
The Moto GP stuff is the chinese ABS injection molded fairings from fleaBay, and bought a spare tank. There wasn't much fitment issues with the chinese crap except in a few places, that was easy enough to deal with.
So I have two full set of fairings and tanks. Even bought a second custom tailight for the extra tail section.
So anytime I want I can go Moto GP or Stock.

I knew the stock ones can never be replaced but the GP replica I can fix or replace anytime!

I totally feel you on this subject @Rainman. As soon as I can find a TZR250SPR 3MA that does not cost literally an arm and a leg, I plan to build myself, both mechanically and visually, a John Koscinski repli-racer...

Which by the way, is the universally acknowledged, greatest Marlboro livery ever. "And on this there can be no debate..."

Edit: 3XV... Not 3MA. I don't know what I was thinking...
