Hi all, thanks for the tips I’ve been watching for a few weeks to get a feel for the site. Lots of good stuff being covered.
Moving back into bikes from classic cars, first Ducati in 1965, Daytona 250, when my mates were still on British 7r’s Norton inters etc and the new Jap’s mainly Hondas. But my little Duke showed the way on our twisty country roads and lanes.
Built a collection of bikes to fettle and ride from my little 175 ss to a 1996 900 ss. The little bevel engines are a joy to own and work on but the bigger boys have got the punch and the Italian styling still beats the bunch IMO.

That’s enough from me I guess, take care, ride safe and carry on the good team work.
cheers Den.

Welcome to the forum. I grew up in Farnborough, went to school in Guildford and still have family in the area. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area about 7 years ago and trust me, we win the crap roads competition. Some of the potholes are big enough to swallow your front wheel and all the rain has only made them worse. Its not uncommon to see 4 or 5 cars lined up on the side of the freeway with front wheel punctures where they have all hit a new pot hole one after the other.
Thank you Ben, I live just off the A3 waterlooville not far from your hometown, I must say the A3 is an exception to the norm these days, bearing in mind it’s a main artery to London it’s holding up pretty well. I stayed in the Napper valley healdsburgh for about a month and drove down to Carmel on the coast road, but that was 20 years ago so sounds like things have gotten worse over there as well. So ok sounds like you win the competition. What do you ride?
cheers
den.
That would have been Pacific HWY 1, a pretty famous stretch of road. I've got a Hypermotard 950SP, a 2000 996 and a 2011 1198SP . I have a new arrival expected on Friday so watch the space. On 4 wheels I have a heavily modified 1957 Austin Healey
Yes hwy 1, great ride, and you’ve certainly got some pretty nice bikes to gobble up the miles. Hope your new arrival meets your expectations, will look out for your news on that one🍾. Austin healey, 3000 I guess, again perfect for your weather and your better roads but dodge the potholes, wire wheels won’t appreciate the pots.

Great looking motor, V8 cant beat the sound, I’ve still got my 68 Daimler V8 and a jag xk8 soft top, both on stainless large bore exhausts, sound amazing. But yours is just in a different class. Real petrol head, good on you.

Thanks for the welcome redpato, your ss looks pretty mean with that colour scheme, love the red pinstripes on the wheels, I’ll be copying you on that, great look. See you’ve got a dry clutch did you convert or as original stateside? Mine’s new to me, last week. Standard fit out, 7000 miles. Just noticed the floor, yep I’m a dirty smoker.🤫

Mine came stock with a dry clutch. As for the color, wanted to keep it red but something bold.
