I replaced my heavy lead battery with a LiFePO4 pack that I made over two years ago, and its still working fine. I don't have to keep a tender on it, it starts the bike, etc.. but I know that the A123 cells that I used were from a used Dewalt battery pack and might have a couple of years left in them but that's about it.

One of the problems other people have had with the LiFePO packs is that they don't have as much grunt in cold weather and have to be warmed up (by turning the lights on for a few minutes) before they'll start the bike. .. it looks like A123 might have a new battery coming out that won't have that problem.

So about the time the old A123 cells wear out they'll have "new and improved" out. (we hope).
