Will an Ohlins DU-440 fit a 95 SS SP?
It will also fit on a 92 851S

length seems roughly the same , but stroke is 3mm off.
the DU 440 doe has a stiffer spring suited for my weight.

Yes, I think it will work fine. I have no direct experience with this though.

The 851 has a linkage suspension, the SS does not. You will spend alot of money and time getting that shock to work right, and then it never really will. the shock is the limit of your suspension. With 3mm less travel, you will have less wheel travel. Ideally, the front and the rear should have the same travel, roughly.

If you get it for free, then it might be worth wrestling with. You are better off just getting an aftermarket shock for your bike, or just a e-bay shock. It will work, but it most likely won't be better.
