i have the opp. to buy a 2002 620 dark for $1500...its in great condition except for an oil leak...owner isnt mechanicaly inclined..but says the oil drips from "somewhere"...then burns off and smokes. he says its not alot of oil at all...but notices it because of the smoke....other than that the bike is perfect...Any ideas on what it could be? Costs? also how much does the ducati rutine maintenace run at a dealer for this bike...
Thanks,

It would help if you could locate where the bike "smokes" and try to spot where exactly the leak occurs. Also, when does the leak occur, when it sits, when it runs, at what speed, when it's cold, hot, etc., etc.?

You would get a better response here if you provide more info. Do a little homework before you go asking folks for help.

Call your local dealer and inquire about their fees for service. There ya go.

Hey Dude,

We've got a 620 that resides at our house. They're pretty bullet proof. Look for usual stuff...reciepts, etc. If the guy isn't mechanically inclined, and doesn't have any reciepts, I can tell you right now the belts have NEVER been changed, and valves have likely NEVER been adjusted or even checked. Oil leak? Several places it could be coming from, but you've got to lay your eyeballs on it. Could be an oil filter, old crush washer on the drain plug.
