I just joined the forum and am looking for some advice. I have a 2017 Multistrada 1200S that I've ridden from Vancouver to Ontario, and around the entire of Eastern Canada. Just got back from a 5400 km trip and the OEM seat is killing me! I'd like to replace it with a more comfortable touring seat. I'm 6'3" and 245 lbs. It looks like Touratech only makes seats up to 2014 model, you have to ship your seat to Sargeant, and I've read some mixed reviews on Corbin seats. I'm also considering an Airhawk or Wild Ass seat pad instead. Any specific suggestions would be appreciated!

I've tried a lot of things with the 2017 multi seat. Also tried the airhawk. Non of it really worked for me. I think the biggest problem is the exhaust. The cat is getting extremely hot, which then makes the seat very hot and burns your ass. I think this is the biggest problem with this seat.
So a solution to that would be a termignoni or something exhaust or a decat option.

Currently I moved from the multi to the Diavel 1260 and it is more comfortable to me. Which of course shouldn't be the case. Because the multi should be a touring bike for long distances.

You want to get this multi seat cooler. That's what I think.

I love my Sargent. That said, yes you have to ship your seat to them for modification. I didn't want to go without a seat for the couple weeks it would take, so I purchased a used rider and pillion off ebay and then sent them to Sargent.

The Ducati Performance seat sold by Ducati is made by Touratech. Pretty pricey for the rider/pillion combo but have heard more good feedback than bad regarding it.

I have the DP Comfort (Touratech) seat. It works well for me. I am 5'8" and weigh 160 pounds. I stand up for a few minutes every hour to restore circulation. I also have the Termignoi without the cat but I am not sure it makes a difference. When it's hot this bike is hot. Standing also helps to cool personal parts.

I have a 16 and just going through the same issue. Ducati dealer says they can't get the Comfort (Touratech) any longer and as you found it's not on the website either. I have found a seat specialist with 45yrs experience close to me and dropped my seat off yesterday to have it reworked. He said it would take a couple days and cost about $50 so if you're interested in how it goes send me a message.

Update: he took my oem seat and added approx 1" of padding to build up the front/middle so that it doesn't slope forward as much and dissipates pressure on my arse better (which now better suits the upright riding position of the MTS). Was just enough extra material on the oem cover to fit it under. And he only charged me $40! win-win!

I always add some 3/4" closed cell foam on a seat. Remove cover, glue the piece down, shape with an Xacto, staple cover back on. I usually add also another small piece near the middle of the seat to create a hump that'll lock me in place so I don't slide forward.

I'm assuming that the new foam is being glued to the seat base and the stock foam lays over it? Are you creating a wedge with the thickness of the new foam tapering to near zero at the back of the seat? How stiff is that foam and where are you finding it?

This sounds like something I could do.

No, I glue it to the top of the OEM seat foam, then shape it out. The seat pan has a bazillion dips and crevices, and the OEM foam is molded to match, so adding to the bottom won't work. The last I bought came from ebay, and it's pretty flexible and easy to work with.
