Here's what happened in brief ... went out on a run of 90 miles or so,
Bike ran perfect .. stops and starts fine ... got home turned bike off while I unlocked the garage, .... turned ignition on .. fine,.. pressed starter button .. starts to turn then just makes a whirr and a constant sound of like electrical arcing.... Turned ignition off then back on ... it tries to go through its checks but
both clock needles are going part way round then part way back constantly, ... the neutral light goes dim and then bright .. and also the relays under the seat are 'clicking' like mad.
Anyone got any idea? I don't want to keep trying this in case something is
arcing .. appreciate any help

Checked it today nothing happens when ignition is turned on.
checked voltage of battery while in situe and couldn't get a constant reading,
removed battery and checked, 10.8v :(
voltage regulator/rectifier looks ok no signs or smell of burn.
will check the solenoid tommorow!
Fuses are ok

Ok, stop. 10.8 volts is a dead battery. Get a new one on there first.
+1.....all symptoms are low voltage. Charge and test battery, replace if indicated, test charging system, repair as necessary. Back on the road.......!!

Do you use a trickle charger?
My Stock Yuasa Lasted me 6 years and showed no signs of depletion
I changed it out anyway after 6 years just to be safe

If you do use a trickle charger your Batt will last a good long time
