My experience with Bestem carbon

I know they are a sponsor here, but I just wanted to give my impressions on my experience ordering a few carbon parts from Bestem USA.
First, let me say that their customer service is excellent. Unfortunately, the products didn't live up to that same quality of service.

Initially I ordered the Key-guard for my SF. When i got it, it didn't fit. And as you can see from the pictures, the holes weren't even centered to where to screw-head would sit adequately in the hole. 1st key-guard, sent back.

When I sent it back, they sent me the replacement. This is what I got:

Why is there a picture of just a box you ask? Because that's all I got. A box. Apparently whoever packed it DIDN'T TAPE THE BOX!!! Literally. The rubber bands you see on the box were the post office's doing, not Bestem. How the hell does someone put a label on a box and not notice that it's missing tape??? The postal worker handed me the box and said she noted the damage since it seemed all out of sorts. When I opened the box all there was was some bubble wrap and the receipt telling me how much money and time I had just wasted. I would usually consider theft, but in this case I think it's safe to say it just FELL out!!!

At this point, I decided to forgo the whole key-guard thing with them and, since the person I was dealing with had been so nice, I figured I'd just try another product altogether. Must be just that particular Streetfighter part, right?

So, I ordered the rear hugger and front fender for the wife's Monster. That came in without a hitch, but......when I tried to nstall it, THIS is how it looked:

Needless to say that these items also went back. The front fender fit, but since we were returning the rear one, this one would also go since you would want the 2 to match exactly.

This post is not meant to bash Bestem. It is what it is. The customer service was in fact great. Each time they sent me a return label to return the items and refunded me all of my money. But at the same time I think I'd be doing the people here a disservice if I didn't write about my experience with them. Hopefully they can get these issues fixed because I honestly can't imagine how a company with such little standards for quality control could possibly stay in business very long. Worst part is that I had more stuff to order for the monster. This, as I'm sure is the case with other people, cost them more business.

i have read reviews about their products in the past, and chose not to order parts from them due to. maybe others have had great success with the parts they received, but your example is more to my point. shift-tech has never disappointed me, nor has an outfit in the UK (really nice stuff). pay more/get more seems to work for me when it comes to carbon parts.

thanks,
I bought a rear hugger and exhaust guard for my 07 Duc MS from them and it has worked fine. The hugger was slightly off but easy to fit with a slight filing of one hole. Sorry to hear about your issues though.
About two years ago I purchased a rear hugger from Bestem, it had waves/ripples in it so I sent it back...customer service was great, full refund with no problems.
I remember seeing the product given to the guy who gave his bike for prototyping (squire something) and it looked terrible. That was all I needed to make up my mind.

Unfortunately for them it's tough to make a profit if they're only good at issuing refunds.

You get what you pay for. ;)

I haven't found anything as nice as the Shift-Tech carbon. The Lieb-Speed stuff Guido imports from Germany is light and strong, fits well, has a great finish, and has aluminum eyelets bonded into it at the screw holes for strength.

Besides, you get a 10% discount if you're a member here and a free t-shirt.
not really fair to compare bargain basement CF like bestem which is a fraction of the price of DP, shifttech motowheels, etc. Helped Craiger mount his hugger and thought for the price the quality was pretty good.

I'd probably not buy any but I don't buy CF anymore anyway

Don't really think that expecting something to actually fit (multiple times) would be too much to ask. That's like buying a less expensive wheel for your car. Just because it's less expensive doesn't mean the bolts shouldn't line up or that the wheel should be oblong and wobble down the road, right?
